The brief for this university assignment was to develop a packaging design for a product that could provide a more sustainable, innovative, and effective option compared to the current market. In addition, establish a distinctive brand identity for the new packaging.
Our Milk. Co

For this assignment, I chose to look into fresh cow’s milk. As I felt that there is a lack of diversity and sustainability when it comes to packing fresh milk products and that there is room to explore alternative packing options.
During the research faze of the project, I was able identify the consumer and packaging needs. Discovering the key themes for developing the packaging design, which was sustainability and recyclability, and that the goal of this package design is to appeal to consumers who opt for alternative milks due to health trends and environmental concerns, rather than dietary restrictions.
The packaging design that I decided to explore further with, consists of a wax-coated recycled cardboard-based design. I aimed to depart from traditional cardboard packaging by creating a visually intricate yet functionally simple design. The easy removal of the bladder within the packaging allows users to recycle the packaging individually or replace the bladder, enhancing sustainability and user convenience.

With the next stage of the assignment, the brand I developed to showcase the packaging is called ‘Our Milk.Co.’
Our Milk.Co brand essence is comfort, while its values align with community, reliability, sustainability, and freshness. The primary tones of the brand are soft, friendly, simple, and familiar.
The purpose of Our Milk.Co is to promote alternative and sustainable packaging options. Our Milk.Co strives to produce fresh, local milk for everyday Australians without any hidden nasties or agendas. Just 100% fresh cow’s milk, packaged sustainably, for a brighter, healthier future.
Exploring branding through mood boards and mind mapping helped create a design aligned with the brand’s simplicity, playfulness, and familiarity with colors from other milk brands.
